Vixen had her first outing to the dog park on Saturday. It wasn't actually her first time there; we'd tried it once before, but she wanted nothing to do with it and spent the whole time in the arms of either myself, Chris, or another dog owner who was quite taken with her, while Brooskey ran off his steam over on the big doggie side. This time, though, she did great! She stayed close to me at first as some of the other dogs came over to check her out. Then she gradually started venturing farther away. The sweet, chubby Beagle you see in the photo decided to play mama, and as she tried to keep up with Vixen her owner said it was the most he'd seen her move in years. Before long, Vixen had taken over the small dog side of the park, and was having a blast with all of the other dogs. She even found a Yorkie puppy about her size to chase around. We tried to get more pictures of her playing with all of her new friends, but she was too quick for Chris' iPhone camera! And, she finally went to the bathroom outside! Of course, she hasn't done so since then, but... baby steps.
Before the dog park, we went for a visit with the vet. Vixen is now scheduled to be spayed on May 15. She also has a cherry eye that's going to be fixed at the same time, and possibly a couple of baby teeth that will have to be pulled if they don't fall out by then. They are very loose, though, so hopefully they will fall out in the next couple of weeks.
