Once in a while I have an extremely good or bad experience with a company, and want to tell the world about it. Over the past several weeks, I have had a lot of dealings with customer service in various companies, so I thought I would write up a list of the most noteworthy.
Dan's Chocolates
I ordered a pound of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers from these guys for my mother for Mother's Day. They only shipped the flowers - the $33 box of chocolates was missing. When I contacted them, although they did refund the $33, they didn't go out of their way to make up for or even acknowledge their mistake; in fact, I got the distinct impression they didn't fully believe such a mistake had been made.
CompUSA
We have been in the process of upgrading our computers, and one of the last things I needed to complete my upgrade was a new case. I found one I liked on display at CompUSA, but it wasn't in stock. The salesperson we talked to told us he would call us when it came in, but to check back at the end of the week if we didn't hear from him. Friday rolls around, and we called to see if it had come in. The person on the phone told us it had come in, and that he would put one on hold at the customer service desk for us. When we got to the store, we found there was nothing waiting at the desk, and that the cases had not in fact come in, and weren't expected to anytime soon. I was more than a little miffed when we left, and when we got home, I shopped around online and found a case I liked better, with an included power supply (which the CompUSA case did not include), for $40 less! Which brings me to the next company...
Dealsonic
This is where I bought my computer case. The delivery was timely, they have excellent credit card fraud prevention policies, excellent prices, and the case itself is wonderful. It's gorgeous, well-built, and with four of the six optional fans installed, has drastically lowered my CPU's operating temperature. And just for giving me the opportunity to tell CompUSA to take a flying leap, DealSonic earns high marks in my book.
CrazyforBargains
I bought a pajama set from these guys for my sister for her birthday. I had ordered a large, but they mistakenly sent me a medium. When I contacted them about the mistake, I couldn't believe the response... They asked me for my sister's name and address so they could send the correct size directly to her, and told me not to bother returning the medium, since it was entirely their mistake! So not only did they correct their mistake at no additional cost to me, but they gave us a free pair of pajamas for the inconvenience. A completely refreshing experience that has renewed my faith that good customer service still exists in some places...
