The porting of my home telephone number went into effect at midnight last night, and calls to that number now ring in to my iPhone. At some point tonight or tomorrow I will record a voicemail greeting and change the one on my old prepaid cell to alert people to the change.
Both of the cases I bought on eBay last week have arrived. The silicone skin is purple, but when you put it on the phone and the silver shows through, it does make it look pinkish. I think I'm getting used to it, though, and it's starting to look more purple to me again. The belt clip case is definitely purple, my favorite shade. It's really well made, better than I expected, but sadly I'm finding it less useful than I'd hoped. When clipped on my pants pocket it hangs awkwardly to where I can't really get the phone out, but putting it on my waist band makes it too high. It does also have a wrist strap, and if nothing else I can use it to protect my phone when visiting friends and family, and just carry it that way. But for the ride back and forth to work and when out shopping, etc., I'll probably just put the phone in my pocket. At least with the silicone it no longer falls over on its side in my pocket leaving it extremely difficult to pull back out.
I'm not sure I'm happy with the cheap Bluetooth headset I bought from Woot a while back. When I called my mom yesterday, for the first several minutes I could barely hear her. It was all crackles and static, and Mom said she could hear interference on her end, too. But then suddenly, it cleared up. I'll give it a little bit longer, and if I decide I don't like it I'll buy a better one... or I'll just steal Chris' Motorola since he never uses it.
Just a few observations on the iPhone so far. My only complaints, aside from missing features which will hopefully be enabled in future software updates, have to do with the on-screen keyboard. First is the placement of the backspace and return keys. I keep deleting things when I want to start a new line! And second is the lack of a caps lock key. Having to touch shift for every letter when trying to type a word in all caps gets annoying. I've made a positive observation as well: curly fingers, resulting in my using my knuckles on the screen instead of my fingertips, means far fewer fingerprints on the screen than Chris gets on his!
