As you probably already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What you probably don't know is that my mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer over the summer. She was lucky. She was diagnosed with one of the least invasive types of cancer, caused by her hormone replacement therapy. She has had two minor surgeries, and has just begun radiation. She won't have to undergo any chemotherapy or other more invasive treatments. Later this month, my mother-in-law will be participating in a 5-mile walk, known as "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer", to help other women like her, and some who may not have been so lucky. (If you're interested in helping to support her fundraising efforts, please contact me privately.) comment: from yosemity sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. happy its turned out well. i would donate but a iraq vet with 1 amputated leg and 1 really messed up leg & dozens of operations to go was just discharged from the army and had to vacate base housing. with nothing in the way of household furniture very little clothes for 2 kids, and very little in kitchen apps or cooking utensils. a few vet orgs made up a list and sent it out 1st & i hadda doit. so i blew $25 on a bunch of useful cooking untesils, plastic sealing containers and spoons ladles etc. seemed right thing to do. now i am broke til next month. haha haha Wed 10/04/2006 7:44 PM
