As you probably already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What you probably don't know is that my mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer over the summer. She was lucky. She was diagnosed with one of the least invasive types of cancer, caused by her hormone replacement therapy. She has had two minor surgeries, and has just begun radiation. She won't have to undergo any chemotherapy or other more invasive treatments.
Later this month, my mother-in-law will be participating in a 5-mile walk, known as "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer", to help other women like her, and some who may not have been so lucky. (If you're interested in helping to support her fundraising efforts, please contact me privately.)
If you can, please make a donation this month to one of these awesome organizations that work so hard to end breast cancer once and for all:
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
The American Cancer Society
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
