Christmas is coming faster than we realize, and probably faster than some people want it to. I am not one of those people... I love Christmas. But I am trying to limit my early exposure to Christmas-like things, so that when the day actually comes it will feel special.
I got my invitation today for my employer's company Christmas party. It's always kind of funny when I get this invitation in the mail, with the mailing label on it that I made. (My boss' wife handles the party planning and sending the invitations, but I print the address labels and employee list for her every year.) Anyway, on December 8 I will be partying down at the boss' gorgeous house, having a blast I'm sure. What's better than a night of drinking with a bunch of rowdy electricians?
I'm on top of things as far as shopping goes this year... thanks to our Disney vacation. I did the majority of my shopping for my family during the trip, and then cheated and ordered a few items from Disney that I didn't manage to get while we were down there. I saved a decent amount of money on the items I had to order, too, thanks to 25% off and $5 shipping coupon codes I found on RetailMeNot. Now I just have to wait for everything to come in, and I should be able to get everything shipped off to Oregon with plenty of time to spare.
Thanksgiving is this week, and it's a day I partially dread, because it's the day that Chris' side of the family demands to know what everyone wants for Christmas. It's also the day that we draw names for Secret Santa, and we're required to write down a few items for that as well. I always find it easier to shop for other people than to figure out what I want, so I try to keep a running list of things I come across throughout the year that I would like to have, which people can check for my birthday and Christmas (and any other occasion that might come along). I have actually come up with a few things this year that I really do need and/or want, as opposed to those cool items I see that I would love to have but would never buy myself.
