My eye exam yesterday confirmed my suspicions. I don't have a severe vision problem; no nearsightedness or farsightedness. But I do have astigmatism. It's mild, but enough that Jeff (our optometrist and a good friend of Chris') thinks glasses will help me to see more clearly, and it could explain the headaches. But it's not bad enough that I absolutely have to wear them; he says when to wear them is entirely up to me and what I'm comfortable with. What that means for me though is that I will at least be wearing them all day at work, because getting them on and off myself, at least at this point, is not possible. I can probably put them on by putting them on my desk and pushing my face into them (with a soft cloth under the lenses of course), but I can't conceive a way to take them off without damaging them. If I find that I can see the TV, my computer screen, and my iPhone screen better with them on, then I just might wear them all the time. We'll just have to see what happens.
Unfortunately I can't find a photo online of the frames I chose. They are metal frames, with a tortoiseshell pattern on the outside and purple on the inside. The purple is subtle enough that it won't show when I'm wearing colors that don't match, but will be "brought out" when I am wearing purple. They're an oval shape, probably closest to the shape of the top center frame in my virtual try-on experiment (but not rimless). Don't worry, I will get a new profile photo up when they come in!
