Once in a while I wake up in the middle of the night with some muscle in my body twitching. Only it's not really a twitch, but more of an unpleasant sensation building up in the muscle which is only relieved when I consciously move it. Then it starts building up again, and it goes on and on and won't let me go back to sleep. It's usually either in my hip or up in my neck or shoulder.
Sometimes it seems it's there to alert me to something... for example, that I desperately need to get up and go to the bathroom but am not awake enough to be aware of it. But at other times, there seems to be no reason for it, but it still will not stop unless I fully wake up, get out of bed, and move around before attempting to go back to sleep.
I'm just wondering if this is something that happens to everyone, or if it's just another on a long list of ways in which I am weird.
