I did it. I applied color to my hair for the first time ever in my life. Yes, it was just spray-in color and I washed it out as soon as I got home from the Halloween party. Anyway, now I can reveal who we dressed as for the party: we were Peter & Lois Griffin from Family Guy. And you know what? It wasn't even my idea. Yes, Chris, he who has never dressed up for Halloween as long as I've known him, came up with the idea himself. It was a nice and easy (i.e. cheap) costume, too. Chris wore clothes he already owned (yes, Peter's pants are supposed to be green, but we couldn't find a decent pair of green pants anywhere and we figured most people wouldn't notice that detail anyway). All we had to buy for him was a $5 pair of reading glasses which we removed the lenses from... quite forcefully, by shattering them with a screwdriver. I bought my shirt and pants at Wal-Mart, for fairly cheap, and I can wear them to work so I'm not even counting it as part of the cost of the costume. And of course I had to buy the red hairspray.
I have two people to thank for some much needed help with this costume. First, Sandra, for helping me with the hair color. She and Joe also attended the party, dressed as Juno and Bleeker from the movie Juno. Second is a very generous local Freecycle member for allowing us to borrow his son's Stewie doll - the prop which made the costume. We had hunted all over town for a week and could not find one anywhere to buy, so this person is my hero.
Okay, I know you're dying to see the pictures. Here they are.
