On a recommendation from dooce, I recently decided to try out a new product on my perpetually chapped, flaky lips. My lips are so bad that even when I'm constantly wearing protectant and/or moisturizing products, they are still covered in dry, flaky skin, which I end up chewing off, leaving my lips cracked and bleeding. And forget wearing lipstick or lip gloss; it would be all chunky looking with all that dead skin under it.
Philosophy's "Kiss Me" exfoliating lip scrub
helps to remove the dead skin and smooth out dry, rough lips. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and while it doesn't magically make all of the flaky stuff disappear, it does do a lot to smooth out my lips and make them gloss-worthy, as well as removing that urge to chew on my lips! I went out and got myself some new lip gloss, and I have a daily routine going now: In the morning I apply the lip scrub by rubbing a dab of it into my lips until they are smooth, then wiping it off with a tissue. I then put on the color of lip gloss I've chosen for the day (I have a "nude", a pink and a red - does one need anything else?). After lunch, depending on how flaky my lips are feeling, I will either wash everything off and start over again, or just apply more lip gloss. Then at the end of the day, after I've eaten dinner, I wash off the gloss and put on my Vaseline lip balm. (I'll also wash off any remaining Vaseline before starting my routine in the morning.)
I have to say I'm pretty happy with the product and will probably continue to use it. It's been nice not having raw, bloody lips from chewing on the dead skin, and being able to wear a little color on my lips for a change. It makes me feel pretty!
