This post on the This is True blog made me feel so much better after the stupidity that took place last week. My favorite quote (shortened to emphasize what I think is the most important point):
If you don't want it bad enough to pay the asked price... learn to do without.
The "asked price" could be money, tolerating a few ads, or the volunteering of personal information. Everyone has the right to ask for some kind of payment for their work. If you don't like what you have to give in order to receive something, then you obviously don't really want it that bad.
Furthermore, if you are getting something for free, don't sit there demanding that the service be provided in the exact way you want it, or demand that they listen to their "customers". Because if you're really that unhappy, I'm sure they will gladly refund all of that money you've paid them.
