I have a confession to make.
Like I mentioned before, August is usually when I start my Christmas shopping. Since I have to ship most of my gifts across the country, I like to be done with my purchases by Thanksgiving. That gives me a month to wait for those last minute internet orders to arrive, get everything wrapped, packed, and shipped. And I don't like to wait until prices have been inflated for the holiday.
I've known for a while that I would have to seriously cut down on my spending for Christmas this year. We're probably not even going to get a tree. I figured I would find gifts that have special meaning for each person without spending a lot of money.
But here's my confession: I have zero ideas.
I'm not good at making things. The one exception to that is my digital pencil drawings, but those take months to complete. If I was going to do that for everyone I should have started in January. Earlier in the year I had considered going home for Christmas as my gift to my family (something I have not done since I moved away, as I hate traveling in the winter). But the realities of puppy motherhood and rising airfares put a stop to that idea. If everyone still lived together I could look for one single gift that would benefit everyone in the family, but those days are long gone. My siblings have all left the nest, and my parents are no longer together.
I'm not in panic mode just yet, but in about another month I will be. What, oh what, am I going to do?
