I'm having a hard time focusing lately, in all things, not the least of which is this blog. I can't decide what to write about next. On Friday I thought it would be fun to make some snarky commentary on some of the searches that have landed people here as of late, but I didn't finish writing it before we went out to eat, and then stayed out so late it wasn't Friday anymore. When I revisited the post today, I realized that it really wasn't all that entertaining, so I canned it. But it's not as if I had a better idea.
According to Feedburner I have about thirty-one subscribers to my feed in addition to the seventeen e-mail subscribers. When I looked at those two numbers together I was actually pretty surprised. That's almost fifty people out there presumably reading what I have to say on a regular basis. So to all of those subscribers, I'm curious. What made you subscribe? Is it interest in one or more of the topics I tend to cover? Or do you just like reading about my life? (Seriously, I don't bore you to death?) I know my topics of interest are all over the map... does it bother you to see more posts on topics that don't interest you than the ones that do? If you're one of those who subscribed to enter the recent contest, well, you stuck around when you could have easily unsubscribed when the contest was over. What made you stay? If I was going to narrow the scope of the site and focus more on one or two topics, what do you think those should be? There are a couple of topics which I haven't written much about over the years; do you think I should eliminate them?
I'm really interested to know what I can do to keep you as a reader, as well as what might bring more readers in. What do you all think?
