This is what happens when you wait two weeks after Christmas to take down your tree...
This was the longest any Christmas tree has stood in our apartment - a full month. Normally it comes down even before New Year's, but this year we just did not feel like dealing with it. Chris had a cold over Christmas, then I came down with it on New Year's Eve (and am just now getting back to normal). Plus, this was the best-smelling tree we've ever had, and after it died it started smelling even better! We didn't want that to go away! Incidentally, with a good and dead Christmas tree and a bagless vacuum cleaner, you've got the ultimate cure for a smelly garbage can.
So, it's also been nearly three weeks since I last wrote in confoozion. Blame again lies on the colds as well as the general chaos of the holidays and the weeks that follow. Christmas was good, and Santa was good to me. I got some nice new clothes, a comfy fleece blanket, Xbox Music Mixer with a microphone, and enough cash to get myself a new video card and Karaoke Revolution.
New Year's was obviously spent in misery as is typical for the first couple days of a cold, including a complete loss of the ability to vocalize for the majority of New Year's Day. But my spirits were lifted by an unbelievably sweet and romantic gesture on Chris' part. I had asked him to go to the supermarket and get me some canned chicken soup, and not only did he do that, but also came back with two big cans of broth, fresh chicken, celery and carrots, and orzo pasta, and whipped up a batch of the best damn homemade chicken soup I have ever tasted. I never would have asked him to do that - I would have been perfectly happy with Progresso. But damn... this is why I love this man!
And last but not least, I'm finally getting my wisdom teeth taken out on the 19th. But not without going further into debt - Medicaid won't pay for the anesthesia... which will burn another $300 hole in the plastic.
