The things that make a person want to kill herself...
I spent all morning at work today trying to find a payroll discrepancy that wasn't there. It turned out my Microsoft Access query was for some reason excluding records I hadn't told it to exclude. When I finally got it to include those records, the numbers matched up perfectly. If that's over your head, don't feel bad... it's just about over mine, too. Otherwise I wouldn't have had the problem in the first place.
And another thing that has me beating my head against a wall... When I got to work this morning and tried to check my e-mail, I got an authentication error. I retyped the password several times, with no luck. Tried the webmail interface, with the same exact password, and got right in. So my next theory was that Outlook Express had corrupted my account, as it has been known to do. So I tried Mailwasher, with my boss' e-mail account, with the same problem. Okay, so now I know it's not account- or client-specific. Logged back into the webmail and fired off an e-mail to our hosting company. Their first theory is mailboxes that are too full. While this could be the case for my boss' account, since he uses webmail exclusively and keeps everything in his inbox, the only message in my box at this point is the brilliant support rep's reply. So the second theory? It must be the client, firewall, or I'm just spelling both passwords wrong repeatedly but magically getting it right when I switch to webmail. Yeah, that must be it...
